March Blog

March 12th, 2013
Hey Guys!:)

It’s March already! I can’t believe how fast 2013 is flying by!

Already so much has happened and so many exciting things are coming up!

February was busy for me, I was prepping my vocals with my coach and getting them back in shape for the upcoming shows, (Which I’ll tell you about in a minute ! )  On top of that I was promoting my second single, “River Wide Enough Song” doing interviews and making a couple T.V appearances where I played live and chatted about the song which is always so much fun!
After all my appearances and chats I was THRILLED to find out River Wide Enough actually made it’s DEBUT on the Canadian Country Billboard Charts at #45 coming in on top of some amazing artists that I LOVE!! So my reaction to this news was a mixture between shock and extreme excitement haha!!  (P.S Canadian Radio- if you’re reading this- THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support haha!!!: ) )  <3

Now that March has begun I’m ready to start rehearsals with the band for the upcoming shows which I REALLY hope to see some of you at!
The first show I’ll be playing in the soon future is a Canadian Music Week show at the Cadillac Lounge in Toronto with the Small Town Pistols, Hayley and tons more amazing artists! I hit the stage at 11pm and you can grab tickets off of the CMW website or from the venue itself.  I miss all of you guys, and I hope to see you all there : ) www.cmw.net

Following this I’ll be gearing up for The Puddicombe Cider Fest in Stoney Creek Hamilton on June 22nd . I’m so happy to have been asked back!! This year I’ll be sharing a stage with Bobby Wills, Deric Ruttan, Dallas Smith and more! I’ll be playing at 3pm sharp and I can tell you from my experience last year it’s an AMAZING time and a full day of testing ciders, live entertainment and shops to walk through.. (Not to mention the food is INCREDIBLE!) haha..  Visitwww.Ciderfest.ca for more info on tickets

After Cider Fest is all done with I’ll be heading back to my home town for my very first arena show!!!!! : ) I’ll be playing the GM Center in Oshawa June 29th  for the 25th  Ontario Provincial H.O.G Rally !!  I get to close three days of amazing events, Harley Davidson celebrations and awards. I CAN NOT WAIT!
You have to have a Harley to attend the three days of celebrations but if this sounds like you visit http://www.ontariohogrally2013.com to register and view a full list of events and prizes you’ll be eligible for!! It’s going to be a wild one so I’ll take some video for all of you guys who won’t be able to attend this time: )

Now, in between all of these shows I’ll be traveling back down to Austin, Texas, USA again for more modeling with LUG! I had such a great time back in October, it’s a country girls dream living out there!!  I even managed to sneak in a little bit of fishing before my early morning shoots started last time haha!! I would wake up , look out the window to see a ranch hand out on a horse with the sun coming up over the hills.. It was INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend taking a trip there if you get a chance!
I’ll take more pictures this time too! I was in AWE last time.. I’m a sucker for taking in the moment a little bit too much and forgetting to actually capture it! I’ll keep my camera attached to my hip this time though… pinky swear! : ) By the way, pick up your Lug spring catalog soon… I think you’ll see a familiar face on the front of it and you will NOT be disappointed in the cute and practical stuff they have in this Spring issue! www.luglife.com

With all of this stuff coming up… THERE’S MORE! Last week I just found out that I am nominated for 4 CMAO, (Country Music Association Ontario)  awards in the first ballot!!! First of all… HOLY COW!! Thank-you for nominating me everyone!! : ) I’m nominated for Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year and for the Rising Star Award! SO exciting and amazing and I’ll keep my fingers crossed I can hold on to my nominations for the second ballot! As long as you are a CMAO member you can vote and you can have your say in who receives awards! To become a member visit www.cmaontario.ca you can also view all the nominees there and their websites as well! This is the first year that the CMAO is hosting an award ceremony so I’m so thankful to be included in the very first year!!: ) I’ll keep my fingers crossed and keep you guys in the loop! : )

NOW .. I didn’t save the best for last because I’m happy with all of these exciting things.. BUT.. This next one is pretty cool! Okay, here it is : The official video for River Wide Enough Song is FINALLY OUT! It premiered on CMT yesterday and I’m SO HAPPY! I can’t thank CMT enough for adding it to the rotation and I can’t wait for all of you guys to see it!
I may have told you guys before but the filming of the video was CRAZY! I was in a warehouse in -15 weather with a giant fan blowing on me! I was freezing to say the least haha.. So I’m really happy that all my goose bumps and the icicles that formed on my eyelashes from my watering eyes is paying off haha!!

Alright guys, there is more news to come but this is turning into a novel! Hope to catch you at a show very soon ! : )

Also follow me on Twitter if you don’t already! I love reading your tweets and I do my best to reply to everyone !  : )

Hope you all have an amazing week!
Talk to you soon:)

November Blog

November 21st, 2012

The weeks have been flying by so fast- I can’t believe it’s almost CHRISTMAS TIME!!! :)

The past few months have been so much fun and I want to fill you guys in on what’s been happening (I haven’t had time to blog- I swear! )

SO! Lets start off with this ongoing contest I’ve been judging since October. It’s called the KX96 Super Star Search. It takes place at the Corral in Oshawa every Thursday night and the winner from each Thursday performs on December 6th where myself and two other judges will be deciding who wins free recording and air play of their song for a year on the radio station!! It’s so nerve wracking scoring singers and deciding their fate! I don’t know how Simon Cowell can do it haha!  In all honesty too, there are A LOT of great singers that have come out so far. I urge you to come out and watch the finals on Dec 6th at 9pm and cheer for your favourite singer if you‘re in the area! It’s a lot of fun and there are so many amazing people everywhere.

Just last Thursday for instance a lady whom I’ve never met but has been following me for awhile now came out to support some singers AND brought me a Christmas gift!!!! Completely unnecessary (You know who you are!!)  but a very sweet surprise – thanks again LANA!! Haha  :-)

For more info on the contest visit : http://www.kx96.fm/pages/kx96-super-star-search-2012

Next cool, crazy thing that’s been happening to me.. Last month I took my first ever trip to Austin, Texas! Yep, It is all you imagine and dream of and more!! One of the most beautiful places I’ve been lucky enough to travel to so far and I would go back in a heartbeat!!

Okay.. so the trip! It was a quick and busy 4 day excursion for the luggage company LUG.  They were flying me in to model some bags in their Spring/Summer catalogue and I wasn’t prepared for how much fun I was going to have!!  LUGS entire team was amazing and I wish so much that I could’ve stayed longer.

The trip started with a freezing cold morning – driving to the airport in the dark feeling a little uneasy and sick. I got to the airport went through customs and decided headed off to the washroom to wash my hands- (Slight germ-a-phobe)  JUST as I get to the sink a lady runs in and emptied this massive container of what I am positive was puke!!L My stomach was already turning but this almost put me over the top!!! Ughhh – then she rinsed the container, screwed the lid on and walked out.. I felt like I was frozen in pure disgust ! Haha . That however was my only complaint the entire trip!  I flew into Austin, met the rest of the team, chatted had some dinner and hit the hay because the next morning was coming early.

My alarm went off the next morning, I had my shower and went down for breakfast. I was stunned by how beautiful the scenery was. I ate my breakfast in a room that overlooked a ranch with hills and just as I was ready to leave a REAL life cowboy on a horse (Ranch hand they call them) came over the hill. It looked like a moment from a movie: The sun coming up and a cowboy on a horse. (This day was definitely starting better than the one before haha! )

I packed my things up and headed over to location where LUG was shooting for the first part of the day. They had clothes picked out for me and a stylist from New York on hand to help me out. I was REALLY loving this day!! Next, I sat down and had my makeup and hair done and wow, I need to get myself one of the airbrushing machines they used on me! I loooved it haha!

There were a few other models on set as well so it was really nice to chat with them, snack on the large amounts of cheese, vegetables and every other kind of food imaginable that was  laid out for us and do some posing when it was my turn!

When it was time to move locations we piled into this massive RV and drove to this spot with an infinite pool overlooking a lake surrounded by mountainous rocks- again it was breathtaking.

After photo’s were done for the day I went back to my home base restrung a guitar and headed out to a famous bar in town called Poodies. It was opened by Willie Nelsons manager and was packed on a Monday (Everyone from my new LUG family came out too!!) ! I walked in got up on stage and played a set for everyone and it was amazing!! People received it well and I had a blast up there doing my thing, sitting where so many greats had sat and played.

Following the gig I was exhausted! I’m almost positive I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

The next morning I was up early driving out in a truck to the closest fishing spot around. I ended up catching a few bass and rushing over to the last shoot spot of the day.

That same evening everyone from the LUG team went out for dinner at this place called the Salt Lick. It’s like no restaurant you’ve ever been to. You can literally walk in with a cooler of beer, or beverage of your choice, whatever food you want and it’s OKAY with them. I’m guessing that’s because their food was amazing. Some of the best ribs and definitely the best potato salad I’ve ever had.

I was so sad to leave the 30 degree weather and  all of my new family members the next morning and fly home to a stormy, rainy cold Halloween day in Canada.

My 4 days in Texas were definitely a highlight for me this year!

Check out www.luglife.com to see their products and make SURE you pick up their spring catalogue! ;)

While I was in Texas my brand spankin’ new single called River Wide Enough Song was released to radio and I’m soooooooooo excited about it! It’s a really rocky, edgy lyrically clever tune so check it out on my media player here on the website and let me know what you think about this one!!

I’m going to be shooting my very first ever music video for this song too, which makes it ten times more exciting for me!J I’ll keep you guys posted on the details of that but in the mean time check out the tune and request, request, request on your local stations! :)

This past Saturday I performed my private show for my Boots And Hearts contest winner in conjunction with LUG! Patricia Medd was the winner of a private living room show for her and 25 family/friends and it was SO MUCH FUN! They were amazing people and it was so cool to play an intimate show for them. Thank you Boots and Hearts, LUG, Patricia and her family and friends for everything! I’m itching to do another one of these contests soon so stay tuned!!

Coming up in December  is a few neat things. . I’m doing. Obviously the KX96 Star Search, which I already talked about in this novel I’m writing you (haha) but on the 15 of December I’m playing a Christmas Miracle live to air at Landsdowne Place in Peterborough with Country 105. I’ll be there at 1 pm doing an interview and playing a Christmas song so come on by say hello and give the gift of giving!! J Bring an unwrapped toy and help build a mountain of them for charity! :)

It really does feel good to give and it feels even better knowing that you’re making a child’s Christmas morning !

Also on December 24th Christmas Eve!! I’ll be stopping by KX96 studios (95.9fm) to chat, talk about some Christmas stories and memories of my own and play some Christmas tunes!! Tune in at 1pm December 24th and I’ll be there! :)

Thanks soo much for reading!!!! Happy Holiday shopping to you all!!
