I released my brand new single called Never Saw It Coming to radio and shot yet another new music video in the absolute freezing cold weather. I just watched what I think will be the final cut of the Never Saw It Coming video and I’m in love with how it’s come together. ( I think freezing my toes off was one hundred percent worth it for how great the video looks!) . I can’t wait for all of you guys to see it.
Meanwhile I’ve been working on and just finished up a special Country-Roots record getting released for the UK and Europe ! (Woohoo!) All that’s left is a bit of mixing and mastering and it’ll be ready for some artwork! I wrote a full record’s worth of new songs that are completely different from anything I’ve ever written so I‘m jumping up and down waiting to listen to the record front to back. It was so refreshing to be back in the studio in the new year and to record some brand new material that I’ve had in my back pocket for awhile.
In telling you that I have a record for Europe, wouldn’t it be fitting to tell you I went there too? I DID! For my first time ever my band and I traveled to the MIDEM festival in Cannes, France to play and debut my newest songs. I was so lucky to be selected by the OMDC (Ontario Media Development Corp) and CIMA to represent Ontario in the showcase and other than it being an absolute dream come true being able to play my music to people overseas, I also was able to squeeze in some unbelievable sight seeing. The band and I landed in Paris, France to kick things off and quickly figured out the subway system so we could have a look at some of the most iconic structures and buildings around Paris. We managed to check out the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame, cafes and experience some amazing food and culture before we hopped back on a plane and flew to Nice where we then took a bus to one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen: Cannes, France.
Talk about mind blowing beauty, incredible food and some of the nicest most welcoming people I have ever met. After exploring Cannes for a few days and rehearsing with the band for a few hours a day, it came time to perform at the MIDEM showcase. Being in a different country and speaking a different language I had no idea what to expect from the crowd. To be honest I wasn’t even sure if anyone was going to show up to watch me!! In saying that, I was shocked and SO excited to walk into the club and see it was absolutely packed! I could hardly move there were so many people there to watch me. People were even sitting on the floor in front of the stage watching me play when it came down to show time. It was so amazing to stand on the stage and look out to see people on both the first and second floor and watching me so intently. I was so proud to be there and incredibly happy to see how well my new songs were received by the crowd. Traveling overseas to play music is definitely one to cross off of the, “Life long dreams list” for me.
After having a great show and meeting a ton of great people the band and I grabbed our instruments and headed off to Italy to check out the culture and the music scene there. .. And it was amazing. Photos do not even do Italy the justice it deserves.
Coming home from Europe I jumped right back into the swing of things, playing shows, watching show bookings come in for summer time and organizing things for the release that’s to follow Never Saw It Coming.
It’s going to be a wild and busy year for me and I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for me! Thanks for reading!
